Battersea has seen some major changes over the years, transforming from an area with a large industrial footprint to a contemporary place to live with fantastic connections to the heart of London. Many of the large scale commercial activities have ceased, including the disappearances of the chemical works, candle factory, and the starch plant. These sites have been replaced with luxury flats, restaurants, bars and shops too.
All of the changes have attracted a new crowd to the SW11 postcode. The homes along the river are enjoyed by young professionals and investors alike. Creative people are increasingly being attracted to the area too, particularly focusing on properties to the north of Parkgate Road. This is home to a number of converted warehouses that make great space for artists, fashion designers, architects, and entertainers too. The area is being fondly referred to as Battersea Creative Quarter.
SW11 is still very attractive to families even with all of these changes. The properties further inland are particularly highly sought because they give residents the green spaces of Wandsworth and Clapham Commons to enjoy.
There are homes available across the area for buyers and renters alike. The rental market is diverse, offering short term tenancies for students as well as longer duration ones for families. There are some good prices to be found across SW11 but it is important to have an idea of what you are looking for. Some areas will carry a premium because of the amenities they offer and their location.
